Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Adastra L10 portable megaphone for voice reinforcement. This product is designed to offer convenient and easy operation for a wide range of portable public address requirements. Please use the following instructions to gain the best results from your L10 megaphone.

Caution: Please read this manual carefully before operating Damage caused by misuse is not covered by the warranty

Safety

The L10 megaphone can produce high sound pressure levels at close quarters. Please be aware not to aim the horn flare toward listeners at close proximity, which may risk damage to the listeners’ hearing.

The L10 operates from 8 x AA batteries. It is advised to use alkaline or NiMH batteries and remove these when not in use for long periods of time. Some batteries can leak fluids which are corrosive and can cause damage to the internal circuitry.

Positioning During Operation

When in use, the pistol grip of the megaphone should be held firmly with the flare facing toward the audience. Keeping the loop strap around the wrist is advised for added security. In between uses, the megaphone can be placed on a flat surface with the flare facing downward, protected by the rubber trim around the flare edge.

Cleaning

The housing is water resistant and can be cleaned with a damp cloth. Do not use detergents or solvents on the housing and take care not to allow liquids to get inside the housing at the rear or via the battery compartment.

Setting Up

Before operating the L10 megaphone, it will be necessary to load it with 8 x AA batteries.

To access the rear battery compartment, press the battery compartment release button (4) and the rear section of the megaphone will flip upwards to reveal the battery holder.

Remove the battery cartridge and load it with 8 AA batteries with alternating polarities as indicated on the cartridge (shown below)

The battery cartridge has contact pads at one end. When the cartridge is fully loaded, these contacts should be located onto the 2 springs inside the battery compartment.

Once the cartridge is in place, fold the rear section down to cover the battery compartment until it clicks firmly into place.

Operation

The hand grip should be held firmly with the rear panel facing toward the operator and the flare facing away. For added security, place the loop strap around the wrist.

Adjust the volume control edge roller (5) to the centre of its travel and press the trigger switch (2).
Speak into the microphone (3) and adjust the volume control to the required level. When speech is finished, release the trigger switch.

If an alert is required, moving the Siren switch (1) to the “On” position will emit a loud sweeping pitch from the horn. Switching to “Off” again stops the siren.

When not in use, place the megaphone face down (flare down) onto a flat surface. Remove the batteries if not being used for long periods.
